Planning a Party For Tech-Illiterate People in 2025

Everywhere you look, technology there is.Touch payments in supermarkets, fingerprint scanners for ID, and even facial scanning to get access to bank accounts. This is all fine until it comes to being someone who is tech-illiterate who needs to plan a modern-themed party.

If you are someone who prefers chatting in person rather than via FaceTime, it can be tough to plan a party in 2025. Luckily, you don’t have to break out the AI bots to keep your tech-friendly guests happy, and best of all, you don’t have to lose your mind in the process.

So, here are some tips on how you can plan a modern party in 2025, even if the thought of sending an email gives you a headache!

Keep Invitations Old-School (but Flexible)

Start with the invites. You don’t need to be on Spotify to send these, and you can even opt for sending them via a text message or phone call.

If you want to send digital invites to large groups, use text-based systems like WhatsApp to get them out and include the RSVP information.

Food

You may be wondering how food can be digitalized?Well, when you are booking a catering team, there may be an online menu that your guests can choose from prior to booking. As before, you can send a link to said menu in a WhatsApp message, which will allow everyone attending to choose their food, and to get the catering team up to date on what they need to prepare.

If you are opting for food that is prepared on site at the party venue, ask the catering team for traditional menus or, if they work via digital orders, be sure that every table has a menu with a QR code that only requires the guests to scan it.

Minimize Smart Gadgets at the Venue

Something that would cause many people to faint is to minimize the use of gadgets at the venue. However, as a minimum, be sure to look for private party venues that don’t have a ton of tech built into the party rooms you are hiring, in order to try to focus on the time people spend together at the party, rather than playing virtual games on their smartphone.

Yes, your guests can film the events, but aim for lights that have dimmer settings over fancy, smart lighting, and play any music via a single playlist in Spotify or YouTube. This can then be controlled by one person, and, if you are aiming to plan a party that has a theme, you can ask all of the guests to choose a song (or songs) that they want to have played. That’s fun, and minimal tech is involved.

Photos with No Downloads

OK, so if you are planning a party for older people, the idea of having to download an app to take a picture can be overwhelming. The same goes for people who may have special needs. So, rather than that, why not get your hands on a Polaroid camera, or even a standard camera, to take the photos? One click is all that’s needed, and then, the photos are printed! This will also prevent you from needing to download anything and will create a fun, nostalgic vibe that everyone who attends can enjoy.
